There are nine waterfalls in Courtallam and the most popular of the lot is ‘Aintharuvi’ (Five Falls) which is a waterfall that breaks into five smaller waterfalls just before reaching the ground. Courtallam is located in Tirunelveli district. Courtallam is famous for the waterfalls. It is popularly known for bathing in falls and Spa centre. It is one of the tourist attraction. There are seven waterfalls in Courtallam, of which Chittar River is one of the remarkable one which has medicinal properties and minerals which is good for health. Taking bath in these waterfalls is good for both physical and mental health. The suitable time to visit Courtallam is during June-September. It is 58 kms from Tirunelveli and just 5 kms from Tenkasi. Nannagaram, Pithur Kanda Theerthapuram etc. There are many temples in Courtallam. They are Courtalla NangaiKoil, ShenbagaDevi Amman Temple, NannagaramPillaiyar Koil, PaatapathuSastha Koil, ChithiraSabai, ThirugnanaSambandar Koil, ThittaiPillaiyar Koil, PasupathaSastha Koil etc. The one of the important temple is Thirukuttralanatha Swamy Temple. This is dedicated to Lord Thirukuttralanathar. It is surrounded by mountains and river which brings this temple the name Thaevaram.
